Disney College Program History

The first Disney College Program began in 1981. In the early days, the College Program consisted of just over 200 students from 20 schools working in only one theme park, the Magic Kingdom. At that time it was known as The Magic Kingdom College Program (MKCP). In October 1982, program participants could work at Epcot as well as the Magic Kingdom and the program was known as The Walt Disney World College Program, employing approximately 500 college students each spring, summer and fall session. From the beginning of the program until 1988. As of 2005, 8,000 students have participated each year, representing at least 301 colleges and universities with an average of 4,000 students at any given time.

Dream it..Do it..Disney!

I have to definitely get better at keeping up with blogging for my viewing public lol. I apologize that it has been almost a year since my last post and a lot has definitely happened. So once again I'm going to be packing my car with all my valued possessions and driving down to Walt Disney World again...This time I will be a plaid! I'm doing a professional internship in Guest Relations.

I'm so excited to be given this opportunity. Working in guest relations has been one of my dream jobs since I was a little kid. They are the people that everyone goes to for answers to problems and any concerns that guests have. GR is also the department that trains tour guides, which is one thing that I would eventually like to do at Disney.

My program begins June 14th and its only April 21st so I have to wait a few more weeks before the show hits the road but I have plenty of things to keep me busy. For instance I will be going down to Disneyland in a few days to meet my friend Alison, who I met while working at WDW last summer, on her first trip to California and her first time at Disneyland.

So the countdown begins 5 weeks away!

Here We Go!!

So I am only one day away from making the longest roadtrip I have ever taken in my life. I hope everything will go right. I have all my bags pack and the oil in my car has been changed and everything is ready to go. I am so excited to be on the road and ready to go, the only set back is that I will unfortunately have to make this long journey all on my lonesome. My friend Leonard was originally going to come with but he has some family coming and then Brittany doesn't want to travel anywhere this summer so now its just me. 40 hours of just me , the road, and my tunes...
